Belly cast: round two!
My friend came over in the last week of August and we planned to do the cast on the eve of the 29th. A trip to Michael's Crafts store and $25 dollars later got us all the supplies I'd need and then some. We probably could have spent less if we'd gone to Home Hardware and picked up a few things in smaller amounts, but Michael's was a short walk from the house and really, who can beat that?
For Round Two we bought :
- Cast material (two rolls at $7 a piece, plus half of one leftover from my first cast three years earlier).
- Olive oil. I learned my lesson last time: don't use vaseline!
- Medium grain sandpaper.
- Plaster of Paris
- Gesso
- A paintbrush
With experience on our side, it took us about 30 minutes to complete the cast and another 20 for it to dry to the point where I could remove it and set it aside. Curtis and Amber spent some time cutting and preparing strips of varying sizes instead of cutting them as we went, which was a big time-saver.
At this point the cast is unfinished, but I will share some photo comparisons between this baby's cast and Tempest's belly cast:
